REMAS Kick-off meeting (KOM)

The headquarters of Diputación de València (DIVAL) receives the KOM of the REMAS project.

On November 7 and 8, a group of experts analysed the relevance of the forest fires concerning the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. By measuring the carbon stored – in soil and vegetation- in a specific territory,  the amount released in case of a forest fire can be quantified.

A good management and prevention of the GHG emissions risk can turn into an important tool in combating climate change.

The location of the critical and higher risk areas will offer solutions to focus the prevention, management, extinction and restoration efforts in the forest land.

Consuelo Alfonso, President of the REMAS Lead Partner, AMUFOR, she was in charge of inaugurating these days highlighting the commitment of DIVAL in the project in its role of disseminating the REMAS results among the municipalities.
